Eye Candy Will Make it Better
Usefulness: I believe a certain amount of graphics and illustration will complement my writing and will give my readers more of an idea of visualizing the instructions. Depending on the context of the project, I’ll experiment with a few tools to see what is appropriate. The tools I’m going to use are Photoshop, Photoscape, Google Sketchup, Gimp, iMovie and occasionally Sibelius for further illustration. My topic on WikiHow is “How to Compose a Basic Melody” and it requires multiple topics to scan through to get to the composition aspect. A lot of theoretical information needs to be described in pictures and if possible, sounds.
Persuasiveness: I believe art, good design, and readable fonts will attract the eye to the page. I like step-by-step approaches and I understand how difficult it is to approach a new topic or get started in a new hobby. I believe the best way to persuade the reader is to make specific steps to a plan, redact all theoretical terms and describe all the necessary steps that you took as a beginner that helped you improve in the goal. It’s not necessary to throw theoretical terms at someone who is just starting in a certain topic. Theoretical information can be thrown in gradually as the reader masters information.
Content: I have to use sheet music examples, some photos, diagrams, and more illustrations for the reader to understand where I’m leading them and how to approach the tasks. When I work, I’m open to new ideas and I might throw in imovies or audio files to further understanding of the topic.
