- What does Anderson say are the three key things Employers look for? (p.25) How will your C.V. provide these?
the three key things Employers look for are:
1- technical expertise. 2- supporting abilities. 3- favorable personal qualities.
technical expertise: I learn quick, classes that i took were all preparing me to adapt and make quick decisions on the spot.
supporting abilities: the ability to solve different problems simultaneously to complete a project.
favorable qualities: from my old jobs and personal experience i developed good communication skills.
- What are the Three Ways Employers Read Resumes? How can your resume accommodate these? Is a one page resume enough? (p. 26)
1- initial screening. 2- detailed examination of the most promising applications. 3- preparation for in-depth interviewing.
initial screening: one employee reads all the resume's only after the key words are put in the computer program so it can pick the resume's online for him.
detailed examination: those that pass the initial screening go to the managers and those people know exactly what they want from their new employees and pick them.
interviewing: managers often use the resume as a resource of their questions and ask them in the interview.
a one page resume is enough.
- How will you learn who your readers are and what they want? Follow Anderson's "Guideline 1" by finding out as much as you can about who is likely to read your resume, about what their objectives are, and about what they want from an employee. Use this Guideline to list several names of potential readers, what you can determine about their objectives as individuals within an organization, and what they will want from you.
by looking at the company applied for and what type of employees they are looking for. for the person who will most likely read my resume, i will have no way of finding out who that person is unless i can find and ask an employee that works closely from that position.
