Audience Analysis

1i)       What does Anderson say are the three key things Employers look for?

The three key things Employers look for, according to Anderson are technical expertise, supporting abilities, and favorable personal qualities.

How will your C.V. provide this?

My C.V.  will provide these three components by having skills/abilities displayed in my work experience section and an activities sections to show I am a well rounded person.  When describing my job experiences, I will elaborate on the favorable personal qualities and technical expertise that I attained during the experience.

1ii)       What are the three ways employers read resumes?

The three ways employers read resumes are through initial screening, often a person or computer looking for key words, detailed examination of the most promising applications, and then a more in depth reading during the actual interview.

How can your resume accommodate this?

My resume can accommodate this by including key words used in the job application and on the business website used as many times a appropriately possible.  Then I would format my resume in detailed but clear a concise way.

2i)     How will you learn who your readers are and what they want?

When reading the the add for the job some of the desirable qualifications for the job are to have good communication skills, to have a strong work ethic, be a highly motivated self-starter, problem solving skills, and attention to detail skills. I will make sure to emphasize these things on my resume when I describe my abilities and things I learned on the job.  Some of the people who might be looking at my resume are hiring managers, an HR representative, and the direct supervisor of the civil engineering interns.  The hiring manager will be looking for those key words that were stated in the add and/or company website in the resume.  The HR representative will most likely be looking for the interpersonal and communication skills. Finally the civil engineering supervisor will be looking for the technical skills and abilities directly related to engineering.  I will keep these three potential readers in mind when I am creating my resume.
