March 10, 2015

  • Attendees: Andrew, Aman, and Michael
  • Issues: 
  • Step 1:
  • 1. We will be doing a feasibility-test because we will be able able to perform tests using VR.
  • 2. Andrew- Go more into detail on the costs and other challenges. Feasibility report components important to us: Criteria (targeting educational institutions, beta testing (implementation)), Methods, Alternatives(different types of classrooms: biology, engineering, history, etc.) and Evaluation
  • 3. Solving the problem of helping students learn while also saving money. Departmental goals. We are providing information on how beneficial VR technology is to education. Also to compare the software of VR. Audience: WSU board of education, TechTown. Andrew will list intended readers in step 1 before next meeting. 
  • Andrew will revise step 1 before next meeting. Then we will look over it again briefly.
  • By next meeting Aman will have Ethical Treatment of Stakeholders completed from Step 2. Al will also have his sections done before the next meeting.  
  • Step 2:  
  • Michael will revise context to include recent related events.  
  • Step 2 will be finished by next meeting (Michael will revise his sections, Aman and Al will complete theirs). We will revise again next meeting.

March 12, 2015 

  • Attendees: Andrew, Aman, Al, and Michael
  • Al has gathered research and formulated most of step 3.
  • For primary research we may do polls, questions, skype calls. We may even try to get our hands on actual VR technology. 
  • Al found secondary resources- biased and secondary resources.
  • Draft of Step 3 is complete.
  • Drafting of Step 4:
  •  Michael is team leader, Project Manager
  • Andrew is Data Analyst, Programmer- good with statistics, a programmer, engineer.
  • Aman is Researcher- a Chemist with research background. 
  • Al is Researcher/ editor, also has extensive APA knowledge and can help with that aspect. Can also help in programming- has research, writing background.
  • We will meet in class both days, and then on Sundays (anytime) via skype. 
  • If someone does not complete their work then they will not only have their work to complete, but they will also have to help with another team member's work.
  • If a member submits poor Quality work Michael will talk to them and try to help them make their work better. 
  • Al has a background in psychology and experience in APA and will be able to help with the APA formatting. He has a manual and we can also use the writer center for help. 
  • We will not meet on skype Sunday, but next Sunday we will. 
  • Al will do psychological aspects, and try to get hands on VR.
  • Andrew will look at costs and technology.
  • Aman will finish up Step 2. 
  • Michael will make a time chart.

March 24, 2015

  • Attendees: Andrew, Aman, Al, and Michael
  • Al has brought a draft of the memo, with all steps together.
  • It was brought up that we should specify our audience with particular audience members.
  • Audience: WSU Alumni, students, Tech Town members.
  • Al's approach to research is using psychology to prove that the VR technology would be beneficial in classrooms.
  • We will turn our plan/3A in Wednesday, so that we get more feedback.
  • In our research we will look for games for the oculus rift that would be considered educational and that we could possibly use if we get our hands on an oculus rift.
  • We edited the Creating a Useful Communication and Creating a Persuasive Communication sections, as well as Steps 3 and 4.
  • For Step 3: look for research containing whether VR is effective in teaching students, how simulations are as close to possible as real experiences.
  • For primary research we will make a hypothetical plan, as if we had the VR technology. 
  • Three research questions due tonight by midnight for step 3.
  • Andrew will make the charter
  • Michael will finish the timetable 
  • Al will edit Step 3 and put all steps together.  

March 26, 2015

  • Al found 2 scholarly documents

First Set of Team Tasks:  Prioritizing Primary Research:

  • 1. Have a survey online targeted towards students. Have two different interviews for professors. Also an interview with TechTown.  
  • 3. Aman will complete the online student survey- Survey Monkey. Al will complete one of the interview scripts for professors (general professors). Michael will complete the Techtown interview script. Andrew will design an interview for computer science/VR familiar professors. 
  • We will all go over our primary research method(s) on OWL Purdue

  • Al will put the memo on one page and post it on Skype, so we each can revise a part of it.

  • Andrew added the tips to our draft
  • Al proposed the idea of dividing each section of work.
  • Aman will draft the student survey questions.
  • We will assign a date where we will all go to TechTown to interview them.
  • All surveys/interviews Due Wednesday!
  • Al will focus/work on the Criteria Section.
  • Michael will work on the Methods Section
  • Aman and Andrew will work on the Alternatives section.
  • Criteria: Better Education could be improved learning experiences. Practicality, Desirability, Marketing

April 2, 2015

  • Andrew will write the Overview of Alternatives section.
  • We wrote out our Overview of Alternatives, as well as an outline of our evaluation of alternatives. 
  • DUE NEXT CLASS: Finished Methods section (Michael), Draft of Overview of Alternatives (Andrew), Rough Draft of Evaluation of Alternatives (Aman), and Draft of Criteria (Al).  
  • Also DUE: Andrew's Interview Questions and Al's Interview Questions.  
  • We are going to aim at next week for our primary research.  

April 7, 2015

  • our report will include a background
  •  We will put the results after the methods section 
  • For our professor interviews: We will interview 3 professors( 1 computer science, 1 med school professor, and 1 engineering professor, and maybe even interview Dr. Grogan).
  • We will try to meet with TechTown this week hopefully Thursday.
  • For our results section we will go over each research result (for example the interviews, then surveys, etc.)
  • Andrew will do intro and background 
  • Aman will finish evaluation 
  • Al and Michael will revise sections and others

April 9, 2015

  • Andrew is putting together a data table on the different prices of the VR technologies
  • We will use Excel as well as Infogram 
  • Al will work on the Results section, and Andrew will make the graphics for it.
  • Al is going to try to interview a med school professor.  He will also try to interview computer science professors.
