Task 1: Cover Letter

Pros:

  • Great use of the Contact information (Ryan Thai)
    • Especially when it comes to job interviews with more than one interviewer in the room.  Each interviewer has an account of who the interviewee is when passing papers around. (Ryan Thai)
    • Also if by some case if the resume is lost by mail, with the cover letter at hand, the company can find you reply to you for another copy.  Doesn't hurt to be prepared for worst case scenario.  (Ryan Thai)
    • Overall, it is a great start!

Cons:

  • Please add "Human Resource Department" above Gerdau Corporation. (Ryan Thai)
    • Almost all paper documentation go to the Human Resource Department.  (Ryan Thai)
  • Add an example relating to one of the skills on the second paragraph. (Ryan Thai)
    • Makes it more reliable and informative. (Ryan Thai)
  • Add "Enclosure: Resume" on the bottom (Ryan Thai)
    • There will be times where you may email/mail both the Resume and Cover Letter to the company. (Ryan Thai)
  • Agree with Ryan, add an example of the skills just so that it is more informative and you can add more credibility to yourself. The company will see that you can carry with responsibilities that require those skills from you. (Mariela Sanchez)

Task 2: Resume

Pros:

  • Good use of the contact information (Ryan Thai)
    • Spreading evenly across a column allows more space for more information rather than down the line. (Ryan Thai)
  • Well organized. (Ryan Thai)
    • Especially when lining up the dates on top of each other, like a table. (Ryan Thai)
    • Easy to read. (Ryan Thai)
  •  Good organization, easy to read, and I liked how detailed it is to make your self stand out. (Mariela Sanchez)

Cons:

  • If there is anything written which is relevant to the job posting, bold them.  (Ryan Thai)
    • These can also be used as keywords and they will stand out. (Ryan Thai)
  • Add a persuasive Objective (Ryan Thai)
    • What job are you applying for and the positive impact you can do in one sentence (Ryan Thai)
  • Just one thing, choose one G.P.A. I feel that you should mention one and not two just so that the employee can see that you are at a good standing and that you are sure about it. (Mariela Sanchez)

Task 3 : Professional Webpage

Pros:

  • User friendly (Ryan Thai)
  • Well organized (Ryan Thai)
    • Good Grid-like work.  Nothing jumbled everywhere.  (Ryan Thai)

Cons:

  • Need to add a third organization website to link to (Ryan Thai)
    • You could link to Meadowbrook Dodge (Ryan Thai)
  • Upload your cover letter (Ryan Thai)
  • Add a few projects for credibility (Ryan Thai)
